Vilminore di Scalve:
Church of Santa Maria Assunta e San Pietro

The Parish Church of Vilminore, pillar of the religious tradition of the territory, has its historical roots in the 13th century, when the first religious settlements in the area were built. The current church, however, dates back to the end of the 17th century, when population growth and the presence, on the territory, of two pre-existing parishes, the Parish of Scalve and the Parish of Santa Maria, made it necessary to build a single sacred building. A new church, larger and more representative, that would be a place of worship and, at the same time, a symbol of historical and cultural identity, a character that it has maintained intact to this day. A significant example of the baroque style, characteristic of many religious buildings in Lombardy, the original church was erected in a central position and easily accessible to the faithful, visible, due to its grandeur, from any point in the village. The Archpresbyterial Parish Church of Vilminore, opened for worship on August 10, 1702, was consecrated on August 29, 1874 by Bishop Luigi Speranza who dedicated it to Santa Maria Assunta and San Pietro.
